Below is a List of a Few of the Participating Wineries at Winery Collective

Howell Mountain Vineyards

In 1983, Mike Beatty, along with other Howell Mountain wineries and farmers, helped to establish the Howell Mountain Appellation (AVA) and reestablish the mountain as a premiere Napa Valley grape growing region. Prohibition had affected the entire wine industry, but with an entrepreneurial spirit and nature on their side, it would not be long before the mountain wineries surpassed their pre-prohibition glory. In 1988, Mike and another prominent Howell Mountain vineyard owner started Howell Mountain Vineyards to produce their own wines and further showcase their grapes. Today, Mike Beatty continues to lead Howell Mountain Vineyards and its focus on producing quality in the field with minimal intervention wine-making in order to showcase the unique characteristics of this distinctive appellation.

VIE Winery

San Francisco’s Oldest Urban Winery

Established 2004

Vie Winery makes high quality, limited production Rhone varietal, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel based wines from many of the finest vineyards in California. Our distinctive wines are produced using classic winemaking techniques to reflect the unique characteristics of each vineyard. The results are wines that offer a balance of flavor and structure that make them as enjoyable today as they will with age.

Vie comes from the Old French word meaning "to invite" or "to give occasion for". Or, in French today, it is simply translated "Life". With friends, with experiences, with everyday life – get the most out of life! We at Vie Winery embrace this philosophy and hope that you can experience this through our wines. Make an occasion to enjoy Vie with friends. Enjoy Vie! Enjoy Life!

Sol Rouge

Sol Rouge is an estate vineyard and winery located in the Red Hills Appellation at elevations over 1800 feet. North of Napa Valley in the foothills of the dormant volcano which formed the North Coast wine country, this land contains rich, red volcanic soil and, from this unique profile, Sol Rouge derived its name – translating to “Red Soil” in French. Our 70 acre estate is planted with Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise, Cinsault, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Nestled between Mt. Konocti and Benson Ridge in the Mayacamas Mountain range, this aggressive sight is all hillside with slopes up to 60% and is said to be the most tightly planted vineyard in the Red Hills, with nearly 6000 vines per hectare in some blocks. Sol Rouge was fortunate to receive 90+ point ratings for all 12 of our wines from at least one of the Top 3 Wine Magazines (Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate) and has received the highest rating ever given to a wine from its appellation to date.

Sottomarino Winery

Sottomarino Winery, located on Treasure Island in San Francisco, is housed in a "submarine" training vessel with authentic parts and historic markings from the World War II era still intact. In spirit of the Treasure Island redevelopment plans, rather than reconstructing the space, we simply re-purposed it -- from a training vessel to a thriving urban tasting room and event space. We embrace the history of Treasure Island and its past as a US Naval Base and will maintain this history through the redevelopment and into Treasure Island’s future.

We take this same philosophy with our winemaking — embracing the old-world winemaking traditions to make a classic Italian-inspired wine from California. We can never make an Italian wine in California, but we can make wines from classic Italian varietals using old-world winemaking techniques that the Italian winemakers have used for centuries. We use open-top fermenter for our wine making and utilize hand “punch downs” during the maceration process. Our use of native yeast for our fermentaion process along with a minimal intervention approach allow our wines to show the classic characteristics of the varietals — embracing old-world winemaking techniques.
